: Bawa Jain - Chairman, World Youth Peace Summit

Mr. Bawa Jain is a visionary leader dedicated to harvesting the religious resources of the world to find new and innovative ways of addressing our global challenges. The World Youth Peace Summit is just the latest of many successful projects he has driven.

Mr. Jain was deeply involved in the landmark Millennium World Peace Summit at the United Nations in August 2000. Following that Summit he worked exhaustively to establish The World Council of Religious Leaders, a direct outcome of the Millennium Summit. The World Council of Religious Leaders convened for their historic first meeting in Bangkok in June 2002 and at the request of the pre-eminent world spiritual leaders who were present Mr. Jain now serves as the Council’s first Secretary-General.

Bawa Jain was also asked by The World Economic Forum to help integrate a religious dimension into the Forum’s activities. He subsequently led a religious delegation to the 2002 WEF meeting in Davos, Switzerland, and continues to develop an integrated framework for religions, business and government to address world problems collectively. As Vice President of the Interfaith Center of New York from 1997 to 2000, Mr. Jain organized the annual Interfaith Service that continues to mark the opening of the United Nations General Assembly. During the same period Mr. Jain served as Co-Director of the Season for Nonviolence where he helped create Youth Non-Violence Programs that now operate in over 15 countries.
